About the Founder
Sebastian de la Begassiere founded De Lesseps with the vision of merging eastern and western culture through the lens of a luxury fashion brand, just as his ancestor Ferdinand de Lesseps did by engineering the Suez Canal. An avid traveler to the far-east since childhood, he was fascinated by Egyptian tunics and workwear, and sought to translate those features into an American silhouette.
